What will you learn?
Arguably one of the MOST important part of wedding florals, is mastering the wedding party flowers - bridal bouquets, bridesmaids or grooms-maid flowers, buttonholes and boutonnières. They will undoubtedly feature in every photograph, and become a treasured memory.
We’ll show you how to make naturally beautiful-styled personal flowers for the wedding party – whether you are a new florist or flower-grower taking on your first small wedding commissions, or even if you are getting married yourself, and would like to consider creating your own florals! We’ll take you through it step-by-step so you leave confident in the knowledge that you can do a great job and create something beautiful, that you will be super proud of.
How your day with us will take shape…
Welcome and Introductions
We’ll start the day getting to know each other and our ingredients in the Clockhouse Flower Studio here on the farm, and discuss colour, variety, stem choices and design styles. We’ll talk you through and demonstrate the importance of conditioning and prepping to ensure optimum vase life and success, before diving straight in to Bridal bouquet design work!
Bridal Bouquet Masterclass
Our signature style is a front facing, open and airy bridal bouquet, with maximum movement, and lots of textural variety. We’ll show you our favoured technique for making this with ease (there are so many bridal bouquet methods, but we always aim to simplify and make efficient use of flower stems for maximum impact!). We’ll show you our finishing method with beautiful natural ribbons, and our preferred wrapping and boxing for safe transport.
Lunch
We’ll break for an hour to have a light buffet lunch together from the farmhouse kitchen. A chance to chat, absorb and exchange ideas and ask us plenty of questions about wedding florals!
We are open and friendly, and so happy to share our experience with you.
Wiring Techniques
After lunch, we’ll move on to some wiring techniques (not always necessary but so useful to know, and can be massively helpful in certain situations, for practicality and timings). We’ll show you both a natural boutonnière AND a wired buttonhole, so you can choose your preference. You can choose to practice this more and perfect the craft, creating fully wired buttonholes OR for those who may wish to move on, we’ll create a glued pocket-style boutonniere which has become increasingly popular, and is a useful alternative and additional floristry skill to hone.
You’ll be able to learn at your own pace, and decide what option is best for you, and your future business.
